Swedish food system transformations: Rethinking biogas transport logistics to adapt to localized agriculture

چکیده
Ensuring future food and energy security will require large changes in consumption production patterns, including enhanced animal human excreta recycling. Although these shifts are considered many scenario studies, their implications on the logistical requirements for effective recycling rarely analysed. Here we translated two existing stakeholder co-designed system scenarios Sweden to 5 × km resolution maps of animals, crops, humans. We used optimization modelling identify biogas plant locations minimize transport costs maximize nutrient reuse. then compared scenarios, full under current landscape configuration, through Life Cycle Assessment. The reduction meat imported both by definition, led less nutrients available manure back cropland, material digestion. Less meant lower national benefits, example 50% greenhouse gas emissions savings most divergent scenario. However a per basis benefits were more important: remained net financial benefit even if increase. fewer necessary (184 228 alternative futures, vs 236 conditions) process excreta, regional clustering did not change substantially across scenarios. Regions such as Skåne Västra Götaland consistently required Focusing early construction investments regions would be resilient array futures. Our spatially-explicit open access can explore logistics planning, impact configuration other sustainability priority areas.

Rethinking Passwords to Adapt to Constrained Keyboards
We describe and analyze a variant of the traditional password scheme. This is designed to take advantage of standard error-correcting methods of the types used to facilitate text entry on handsets. We call the new approach fastwords to emphasize their primary feature compared to regular passwords. Compared with passwords, fastwords are approximately twice as fast to enter on mobile keyboards, a...
متن کاملLogistics and Supply Chains in Agriculture and Food
During the recent two decades, goods flow has been tremendously increased, even though the amount of goods remains at the steady state. Increased variety of goods, the just-in-time delivery system, low load rate, specialization and centralization of production systems, globalization of marketing and seasonal variations are among the main challenges of logistics system which may lead to the nece...
متن کاملAgent-Based Approaches to Transport Logistics
This paper provides a survey of existing research on agent-based approaches to transportation and traffic management. A framework for describing and assessing this work will be presented and systematically applied. We are mainly adopting a logistical perspective, thus focusing on freight transportation. However, when relevant, work of traffic and transport of people will be considered. A genera...

A system approach to biogas technology from "Biogas technology: a training manual for extension" (FAO/CMS, 1996) Biogas technology is a complete system in itself with its set objectives (cost effective production of energy and soil nutrients), factors such as microbes, plant design, construction materials, climate, chemical and microbial characteristics of inputs, and the interrelationships amo...
